Ombré Vert

The Forest Rhapsody paintings were first developed from my exploration of working with limited colour palette. I settled on bold colours and also I wanted each painting to stand singularly with the simple tree shapes as the unifying element throughout the series. Ombré Vert has over 30 layers of oil and cold wax medium. I used frequent compression and mark-making on each layer which I think contributes to creating interest and depth as well as visual texture. I love the luminous emerald green in this painting.
